
ROBERT BLAIR (BOB) REID
REID, ROBERT BLAIR (BOB) The death of Robert Blair Reid of New Maryland, occurred at his home on Wednesday, July 24th, 2002. Born in Moncton, son of the late Paul LeBaron and Mary (Young) Reid and husband of the late Edith (Gamble) Reid. Bob was a veteran of the second world war serving as a signalman in the Canadian Navy. Bob was a well known radio and television broadcaster having hosted the morning program " Toast & Marmalade" for a number of years as well as the popular "Party Line" on CKCW Moncton in the 40's and 50's. He'll be remembered by many as the MC of "The Bunkhouse Boys" Radio & Television programs out of Moncton. Bob moved to the CBC when the English service was established in Moncton in 1967 and was later transferred to Fredericton where he retired in 1990. Bob was an avid world traveler with love and curiosity for life and new adventures. He was well known for his wonderful sense of humor and joyful spirit. Bob was much beloved by his children, extended family and his friends who mourn his passing but celebrate his life with the same joy he greeted each and every day. He was a member of the Moncton Men's Press Club, a Past President of the Moncton Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Beausejour Curling Club in Moncton. He is survived by his son Robert Reid Jr. (Daphne), of Saint John, NB; daughters Bonnie (Doug) Reid of California and Nancy Reid of New Maryland, NB; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Gerald) Walsh of Moncton, NB and Pauline Maxwell of Fredericton, NB. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Edith, and two brothers, Byron A. and Fred A. Reid. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 29th, 2002 from Christ Church Cathedral at 7:00 pm. The Rev. Elaine Lucas will officiate. Interment service to be held at a later date in Moncton. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the NB Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society and Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.
