WESTVILLE – G. Kenneth Lockhart, 74, Prince Albert Street, Westville, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2007, with his loving wife of 54 years at his side. Born in Westville on Dec. 5, 1933, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Carter) Lockhart. Ken worked as meat manager at Sobeys throughout the county for 41 years, being at Sobeys in Stellarton for 34 years. He was well known for his volunteer work in the community and received the Volunteer of the Year Award for the Town of Westville in 1992. Ken also was a volunteer for the 1st of July Westville celebrations for many years. A member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville, Ken served as an elder for 47 years and also on the Board of Managers and Men’s Club. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of St. Andrew’s Church for many years; a member of Scotia Lodge #11 Westville for 55 years and an honorary member of the Stellarton Lion’s Club. He was one of the founders of Westville Rink Sports Complex, serving on the Rink Commission as Secretary. Ken operated Westville Power Skating for many years and was also a former member of Westville Gentlemen’s Hockey League. Although active in so many community affairs, his family was to him, his pride and joy. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Marlyn (Henderson); children: Karen Stewart (Ed), Westville; Preston (Nancy), Westville; Brenda LeDrew (Fred), Hazel Glen; Ken (Bonnie), Westville; seven grandchildren: Melinda Murray (Blaine); Ian Stewart (Michelle); Jacob and Holly LeDrew; Kenny, Michael, and Jessica Lockhart; and one great-grandchild Reese Murray; brother, John (Carole), Alta; brother-in-law, C. Victor Henderson (Phyllis), Ont. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Margaret Ann; sister, Shirley Campbell; and brother-in-law, Allan Campbell. Visitations will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville, with Rev. Glenn Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
