Westville – Shawna Lynn Mason, age 39, of Cowan Place, Westville, passed away Friday, July 11, 2008 in the QE II VG Site, Halifax, after a two-year struggle following a bone marrow transplant. Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of Linda (Smith) Mason of Country Harbour and the late Leonard Mason. She was an employee of Blinkhorn Real Estate and a former employee of Hodgson’s Chipping and Guysborough County Home Care. She was active in many community and school affairs. At the time of her death, Shawna was writing a book about the struggles and complications of bone marrow transplants faced by her and others. Besides her mother, she is survived by her sons, Nicholas and Ryan Kaiser; brother, Tim (Shelly), River Road; nephew, Jacob; former husband, Scott Kaiser; special friend Nadine and many close friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor John Luten officiating. Burial will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
