
CLOWES M. BISHOP
BISHOP, CLOWES M. Clowes M. Bishop passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB on October 17, 2005. He was 87. Born in Fredericton NB, he was the son of the late Henry & Mary (Clark) Bishop. Clowes was a retired funeral director and founder of Bishop's Funeral Home. A member of the Fredericton Horseman's Association & the USTA having owned & raced horses for over 65 years throughout the Maritimes, Maine & Ontario. A drill sergeant during WWII here in Fredericton, he went on to join the Fredericton City Police Force following the war and later became Fredericton's 1st Detective Sgt. In early 1964 he bought the Mundle property on the Woodstock Road which he renovated and opened as Bishop's Funeral Home on July 16, 1964 retiring in 1977. Surviving are son Donald (Stephanie) of Fredericton, daughter-in-law Kathy Bishop of Fredericton, sister Frances Dixon of Bedford N.S, grandchildren Jim, Andrew, Mike, Lee, Lisa & Joseph. Special friend Shirley Raymond, as well as five great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his parents, wife Margaret Irene (Giberson) Bishop, a son Gerald Bishop, one brother Allan, sisters Betty Dupuis, Edna Barlow & Joyce Clark, grandson Daniel Bishop. The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 19th from 2-4, & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday October 20th at 2 PM with Rev. Doug Hapeman officiating. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
