FLORENCE M. MOORE
MOORE, FLORENCE M. Florence M. Moore of Fredericton passed away peacefully on January 12, 2007 at York Manor Nursing Home where she had resided since July 2006. Born at Scotch Lake, NB, on October 7, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Grey) Barton, and wife of the late Ellis G. Moore. Most of Florence's life was spent in New Brunswick, except for the early 1950s when she moved her young family to Quebec to be with her husband who worked on construction projects that helped to develop the northern part of that province. The friendships she developed while living in Sept-Isles, Forestville and Rimouski continued into the late 1990s. Upon returning to Fredericton, Florence became an active member of St. Paul's United Church, including their Women's Group, Sunday School Program and Bible Studies. She enjoyed conversation -- religion and politics were her favourite topics. Florence was very in tune with current events. Television news and debates became her prime time viewing. There was never a page of The Daily Gleaner left unread (nor a crossword puzzle left undone). But most important in her life was her family and the well being of each and every member. In addition to her parents and her husband, Florence was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Burden; sisters, Olive Anderson and Laura Jackson; brothers, Charles, Keith and Gordon Barton. Florence is survived by her son, Gerry and his wife, Linda (Abernethy) of Royal Oaks, Moncton; daughters, Joyce (Hilly) Booker of New Maryland, and Janice (Dave) Brown of Fredericton; grandchildren, Kim (Doug) Costin, Grand Barachois, NB, Kelli (Sean) Cheverie, Danny (Nancy) Moore, and Rick Moore all of Amherst, NS, Angie (Brent) Wilson, Fort Collins, Colorado, Jodie (Tim) Booker Yerxa, Jeremy (Tara) Burden, Miranda (Jeff) Lingard; and step-grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa Brown, all of Fredericton; great grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Christopher, Jonathan, Matthew and Nicholas Cheverie; Sean and Alanna Wilson; Ava and Lila Yerxa; and Caden Lingard; step-great granddaughter, Heather Wilson; sister, Edith (Douglas) Howland of Fredericton, NB; brother, Clarence Barton of Lower Queensbury, NB; sisters-in-law, Alma Moore and Anna (Don) Manzer; and former son-in-law, Lawrence Burden all of Fredericton, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. At Florence's request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, with the Reverend Gil MacKenzie officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Florence may be made to the York Manor Foundation, Alzheimer's Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
