(Mercer) Aged 60. Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at the Health Sciences Centre on June 22, 2008 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by parents Frank and Geraldine Mercer and mother-in-law Marjorie Baker, infant sister Carol, and brother and sister-in-law Garland and Verletta Baker. Left to celebrate her life are her best friend and loving husband of 40 years, Chesley, son Scott (Ellen), and daughter Heidi Patey (Andrew). Sisters Emily Dyckson (Robert), Sylvia Thornhill (Cyril), and Lillian Crawford (Harry). Brothers Eric (Loretta), Austin (Ruby Ann) and Howard (Carol). Sisters-in-law Ruth Baker, and Ella Button (Byron) and father-in-law Fred Baker (Grace Butterworth) as well as a large circle of family and friends. Visitation will take place at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue 7 to 9 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday. Funeral to take place from the Salvation Army Mount Pearl Citadel, 106 Ashford Drive on Wednesday, June 25 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
