MARK GORDON SANFORD

SANFORD, MARK GORDON Born October 3, 1961 Passed away peacefully in the V.G. Hospital in Halifax on Thursday, October 4, 2007. Born in Montreal, he spent most of his life in Oromocto. He graduated from Oromocto High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from UNB in 1984. Prior to his illness Mark worked as a Project Manager for the Fredericton office of Base Engineering. Mark greatly enjoyed sailing, woodworking, spending time with family and talking with his many wonderful friends. He enjoyed volunteering with many organizations over the years including The Lintuhtine Choir, The School Parent Advisory Committee, Canadian Liver foundation, Minor Hockey and The Fredericton Yacht Club. His belief in helping others was a gift to all who knew him. More than anything he cherished his family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all. Both he and his family appreciated the extra time Mark was given through the gift of organ donation. A dedicated husband, father and loving son, Mark is survived by his devoted wife Jo Ellen (Black); daughter, Serena; son, Andrew; loving father and mother, Clifford and Kay (Bamford) Sanford; sister, Cheryl (Beau) Loeffler; brother, Scott (Laura); nephew, Grayson; parents-in-law, Grace and Joe Black; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will take place at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, on Monday, October 8, 2007 from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, October 9, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Oromocto Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. with Dr. Jeff Benson officiating. A private burial will take place at the Lower Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Canadian Liver Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
