WIJTSKE (WINNIE) We LAAGLAND WINDER

LAAGLAND WINDER, WIJTSKE (WINNIE) We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Wijtske (Winnie) Laagland Winder (nee Hoogerterp), our beloved Mother, on January 11, 2008, at the Oromocto Public Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Friesland, The Netherlands, August 12, 1925, she was the daughter of Marten & Pietertje Hoogerterp. Mom & Pup immigrated from Holland in 1955 with four young sons to start a new life in Canada. They settled in Marysville where they raised eight children. Frequent visits to Holland allowed them to keep in touch with family. She is survived by a brother, Dirk; sister-in-law, Wies Laagland Winder; and several nieces and nephews. A deeply religious and family oriented person, Mom will be missed by her eight children, Arend (Barb), Marten (Lynn), Rein (Candise), Hans (Sandra), Nellie (Jim, friend), Robert (Penny, fiancée), John (Connie) and Coreen (Mike). Much loved Oma to Tim, Heather, Mike, Shelly, Misty, Melanie, Mandy, Coady, Josh, Melissa, Jonathon, Jason, Cory; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelis in 1990; as well as her parents; three brothers and sister, all of The Netherlands. Mom was always ready to provide coffee and delicious homemade goodies when family & friends dropped by. She loved to knit, crochet and garden until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Thanks to extraordinary caregivers like Yvette Hodgins (whose devotion and love was unsurpassed) Barb & Senior Watch, she was able to remain in her much-loved granny-suite with Molly, her cat. Right to the end she had a smile that would 'melt your heart'! Mom was an active member of the Olivet Wesleyan Church in Marysville and most recently, the Serenity Free Will Baptist Church. Relatives and friends are invited to McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, Monday January 14th, 2008 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Olivet Wesleyan Church, Marysville, Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jeff Crabtree officiating assisted by Rev. Tim Guptill. Active pallbearers will be her six sons, Arend, Marten, Rein, Hans, Robert and John. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to The Alzheimer's Society or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcadamsfh.com (458-9170)
