FITZGERALD, MICHAEL DONALD RICHARD (MIKE FITZ!) June 10, 1991 - February 2, 2008 With his family by his side, and at home where he wanted to be, Mikey said goodbye to us and to the illness that had weakened him. He fought with determination and faced his challenge with courage and dignity, never once complaining. Mike was a Grade 11 student at Leo Hayes High School where he was welcomed with open arms, but he leaves behind exceptional friends from every school in the province and beyond. With the exception of friends and family, Mike's greatest love was basketball. In his too-short career Mike Fitz helped bring home five provincial championships, an NBA 3-on-3 championship, and represented New Brunswick at the Under 15 Club Nationals in 2006 and on the provincial Under 16 team in 2007. Mike "Little Fitzy" was an avid golfer and worked (and we use the term loosely as it was too much fun to be classed as work) in the back shop at the Fredericton Golf Club where he was much loved by all of the Club's members. Saddened by the loss of Michael's love and laughter are his parents, Don and Colleen (Graham); his brothers and confidantes, John and Patrick; and his one-and-only sister, Karen. He will also be missed by his Godparents, Paul and Fabia Fitzgerald; his grandfather, Richard Fitzgerald; his grandmother, Sadie Graham, many aunts, uncles, cousins and the most awesome friends one could imagine. Mike is now sharing his laughter with his infant brother, Richard; his grandmother, Minnie (Digdon) Fitzgerald; his grandfather, John Graham; his uncle, Tommy Graham; and his aunt, Karen Graham. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street on Monday, February 4 from 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday, February 5 from 2 to 4 pm. Funeral will be held at St. Dunstan's Church on Tuesday, February 5 at 7 pm.
