GORHAM, JOSEPH WALKER - The death of Joseph W. Gorham of New Maryland, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Tuesday, October 8th, 2002, at the age of 90. Born in Long Reach, NB, he was the son of the late Frank Butler and Martha Elizabeth (Tippett) Gorham and husband to Herberta " Berta" Ruth (Creighton) Gorham. At an early age, Joseph started his career as a farmer. He later became a partner in Gorham Beverages and was a Founder and President of Fredericton Housing and of Fredericton Rentals for many years. He was also a developer of Fulton Heights and Skyline Acres. Joseph was a faithful member of St. James Anglican Church in Long Reach, NB and later became a member of Christ Church Parish Church in Fredericton, NB. He was a member of the #33 Alexandria Masonic Lodge and of the Luxor Shrine Temple. Joseph was an avid hunter, gardener and a member of the Thistle Fishing Club, but most of all will be remembered as a devoted family man. Survived by his wife, Berta; sons, Frank C. (Joan), G. Stirling (Clara), H. Gregg (Susan) and James F. (Anna Marie) and daughters, Nancy Gorham and H.J. Jody Gorham (Hap) all of Fredericton, NB and daughter, Jean F. MacDonald (Allan) of Anaheim, Ca., USA; 24 grandchildren: Peter, Tracy, Joe, Stephen, Nathan, Mark, Jason, Matthew - Heather, Beth, Scott - Mitchell, Tony, Christopher - Keith, Lisa, Blair - Amy, Alex - Kelly, Josh - Mike, Brett, Christie; 34 great-grandchildren: Katherine, Alex, Tessa - Tom, Dan, Jacob - Gwen, Anna, Zaidee - Zane - Ashley, Travis, Gabriel - Michael - Kayla, Emily - Daniel, Joe, Anne-Marie, Megan - Katherine, Wesley, Sabrina, Jack - Celine, Reilly, Hannah, Lydia - Allyson, Robyn - Olivia, Maggie - Abby, Erin; two sister-in-laws, Jessie Gorham and Hazel Reed and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by brothers, Stanwood, Stirling and Charles and sisters, Florence Warnock, Zaidee Williams and Mildred Redmore. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10th, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A tribute service will be held by #33 Alexandria Masonic Lodge at 6:45 pm on Thursday. Funeral service will be held at Christ Church Parish Church on Friday, October 11th, 2002 at 10:30 am with Archdeacon John Sharpe officiating. Visitation will also be held at St. James Anglican Church, Long Reach, NB on Friday at 3:30 pm with an interment to follow at 4:00 pm in the adjoining church cemetery.
