DAVID RUSSELL
RUSSELL, DAVID - David Russell of Rothesay, NB died at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 24, 2003. He was born in Montreal, Quebec and was the husband of Constance May (Smith) Russell and son of Willis F. and Amelia M. (Dykeman) Russell. Throughout his career, David worked in the field of education in the Montreal area, beginning as a teacher in 1957 with the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal. He went on to serve as Vice-Principal, Principal and Director in the North Island and Laurenval School Boards. In 1982 he was appointed Principal of the New Brunswick Community College, Saint John campus. He retired in 1993 after experiencing a fulfilling and successful career in public education. David was a Christian man who was an active leader at St. James the Less Anglican Church in Rothesay. He enjoyed leadership roles in many types of church ministries some of which included Marriage Encounter, Cursillo, Alpha, Vestry Committees and mission projects. His love for God was evident by his service to the body of Christ, his Godly lifestyle and integrity of character. David is remembered by his family as a caring and faithful husband, father and grandfather who had a great love for people especially his grandchildren. His zest for adventure, travel and new experiences drew people to him. His distinctive characteristics were his goodness combined with an entertaining, vibrant and positive personality which touched the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by one son; Jeffrey (Kathy) Russell of Ontario, two daughters; Cynthia (John) Cudmore of Quispamsis, Elizabeth (Byron) MacDonnell of Quispamsis, two brothers; Robert (Betty) Russell of Rothesay, John Russell of Rothesay; and four grandchildren; Zoe, Jacob, Nathan and Lauren. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Sunday from 7-9 pm at St. James the Less Anglican Church, 1760 Rothesay Road. The funeral will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at St. James the Less Anglican Church. Arrangements entrusted to A.W. Cavanagh Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street, 634-1712.
