Dannie Bisson

1933-2008 Northside East Bay, N.S. Dannie passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008. Born in Glace Bay, he was the youngest son of the late Lubin and Sophie (Aucoin) Bisson. He is survived by his precious wife, Marie (MacIntyre) and their two daughters, Bernadette and her husband, Sander Taylor (Liam and Meghan) and Marie and her husband, Wayne Fennell, all of Northside East Bay. Dannie is also survived by his brothers, Rev. Father Cliff Bisson, Glace Bay, Lubie (Joan), Oakville, Ont. and sisters, Marg (Driscoll), Toronto, Ont., Theresa (Irwin MacMaster), Glace Bay, Bernadette (Ed Ingham), Glace Bay and Rosie (Dannie MacMullin), Glace Bay. A man of great patience and incredible appreciation for the gifts of nature. There was no more beautiful sight to him than the view from the bench at the top of our field. Another great love for Dannie was the gift of music, which is still resounding through our old farm house. His passion for sport cannot go without mention. A hockey player himself for years, he followed this up by coaching ball and hockey teams in Glace Bay and later in East Bay. We will undoubtedly miss his mischievous smile and hearty laugh - enjoy the dance, Dad. Dannie was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred and Melvin and by sisters, Mary Elsie (in childhood) and Betty (Alex Chisholm), Antigonish. He was also recently predeceased by his dear friend and mother-in-law, Chris MacIntyre, who spent endless hours playing piano for him during these last few years. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 9 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, Fr. Frank Abbass and Fr. Stanley MacDonald concelebrating. Burial to follow at a later date.
