DAVID LEE ORR

ORR, DAVID LEE - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a lengthy illness, on Sunday, June 20th, 2004. Born in Saint John September 28, 1946, he is the son of the late Fred and Norma (Lee) Orr. David was employed with the Port of Saint John as a steamship checker for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Local 273 ILA. Prior to his work with the Port, he was a member of the City of Saint John Police Force. In his younger years, he was active in local and provincial baseball and softball as a player, and in his later years as an official. In his playing days, David was reknowned as an outstanding hitter. He was also known as one of the most colorful umpires in the city and an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He is survived by his brothers Bob (Connie) of Gondola Point, Jim (Carol) of Saint John, nephew Steven Orr (Jennifer) of Rothesay, and niece Jamie McOuat (Jeremy) of Chichester England, cousins, Brian Brown, Michael Brown (Betty) and Patsy Arsenault (Roger), all of Saint John. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, West Saint John, NB (506-634-1701) from where the visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24th, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, corner of Duke and Watson Street, West Saint John. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
