HECTOR, GEORGE EDWARD - It is with great sadness, the family of George Edward Hector, age 93, of Grand Bay, NB announces his passing. On Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital he passed away, surrounded by his family. Born in Gagetown, N.B., he was the husband of Etta (Murphy) Hector, his loving wife of 67 years, and only son of the late LeBaron and Jesse (Haines) Hector. George is best known for his long career as a musician and entertainer, but over the years he worked as a ferry operator, chauffeur, mill worker, and a linesman for the Hydro Company. He also worked 28 years at the Winter Port, while spending his summers working at his trade as a mason until the age of 75. Surviving in addition to his wife Etta, are sons Edward (Marlene) Grand Bay, N.B., Jim (Barbara) Welsford, N.B., and only daughter Rhoda (Bob) Williams, Saint John, N.B., and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. George is the last surviving member of his immediate family and along with his parents; he was also predeceased by sisters Eva, Elma, Rhoda, and Phyllis. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) with visitation on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be held 10 am Thursday, October 21, 2004 from St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Westfield, N.B. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
