NOREEN M. O'SHEA (BURNS)
O'SHEA (BURNS), NOREEN M. - 1924-2004. The loving family of Noreen M. (Burns) O'Shea, widow of the late Neil W. O'Shea, sadly announce her peaceful passing, with her daughters and granddaughters at her side, on Sunday, November 21, 2004 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Noreen, (Nonie) to family and friends, who was the eldest child of the late J. Leonard Burns and Annie J. (McDonald) Burns, was born on March 28, 1924 in Newcastle, NB. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Newcastle in 1941 and in 1942 was a member of the Harkin's Academy (Commercial) Graduating Class. Following her career with the British Commonwealth Air Training School, located at the former Canadian Forces Base, Chatham, NB, she and her husband Neil raised their family. She will be sadly missed by her children, Judy Salome, Moncton, NB; Karen Wood (the late Hugh Wood), Miramichi, NB; Michael O'Shea, Vancouver, BC; Eleanor O'Shea, Moncton, NB; Danny O'Shea (Janet), Fredericton, NB; Pamela Cox (Ian), Lower Sackville, NS; Patti O'Shea, Miramichi, NB; Sean O'Shea (LeeAnn), Fredericton, NB. Nonie also leaves to mourn her brothers Leonard (Buddy) Burns and his wife Rita; Gerald Burns (Mary), Miramichi, NB; Raymond Burns (Shirley), Bathurst, NB; sisters Reta Burns, Toronto, ON and Barbara Robertson (Bill), Rothesay, NB. She is also survived by cousins, sisters-in-law Mary Keane (Joe), Miramichi, NB; Muriel Prior (Len), Penetanguishene, ON; brother-in-law Lawrence O'Shea (Ellen), Miramichi, NB; several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was a loving grandmother and took pride in her grandchildren, Mark Wood, Erin Salome, Shelley, Susanne and Sonya Savoy, Megan and Kirsten Cox and Keegan O'Shea. They will fondly remember her quick wit and great sense of humor. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Bridge in past years and also had a keen interest in politics. She was a past member of the former St. Samuel's C.W.L. The family wishes to thank her excellent caregivers, Ann McCullam, Tracey Legere and Sharon Carroll, who all cared for her so wonderfully in her own home. The family also appreciates the relatives, friends and neighbors who supported us with inquiries and concerns to her well being over the years. Her daughters Karen and particularly Patti were also so devoted with love, to her every need. She was predeceased by her infant son Terry, brother Robert Burns, sister Eleanor Stinson, granddaughter Donna Marie and son-in-law Hugh Wood. Private visitation by family was held at Bell's Funeral Home on Monday evening, November 22, with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated by Father Brian Wetmore, with Fr. Reginald King and Fr. John Grattan as con-celebrants, on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at St. Samuel's Roman Catholic Church, Douglastown, NB. Her daughter Patti O'Shea and her nephew Jim Burns provided the Readings. Hymnal selections rendered so beautifully by Jacqueline Allain included: "Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled", "Shelter Me, O God", "Take Me Home", "On Eagles Wings" and "Songs Of The Angels". The family received friends and neighbors at St. Samuel's Parish Center following the burial. Active Pallbearers were Frankie Allison, Eddy Scott, Tom Burns, Frank Gallivan, Michael Burns and Joseph Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence O'Shea, Raymond English, Gordon Linehan, Frank Mills, Andrew Burns, and John Keane. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Miramichi Regional Hospital Foundation, St. Samuel's Cemetery Fund or memorials to ones choice are gratefully appreciated.
