DR. RALPH B. DDS DeWARE

DeWARE, DR. RALPH B. DDS, FICD, FACD - 1926-2005 - Dr. Ralph Baxter DeWare of Shediac Cape passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday September 10th 2005 at the age of 79. Born in Sunny Brae on March 13th, 1926, he was the son of Walter Edmond and Nellie Mahalia (Noble) DeWare. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Mabel (Keiver) DeWare, three sons Dr. Kim (Diane), Peter (Sandra) both of Shediac Cape, and Michael (Peggy) of Moncton, and one daughter Joanne Blight (Peter) of Riverview, nine grandchildren, Tracy DeWare (Jacques Pinet), Jennifer Kikkert (Steven), Bradley DeWare, Tara Macaulay (Dr. Bruce), Alex DeWare, Emily DeWare, Barry Blight, Becky Blight, and Peter Blight, and seven great grandchildren Harry and Ben Griffin, Alexandre Pinet, Maxwell and Olivia Kikkert, Jackson and Finlay Macaulay. Ralph graduated from Moncton High School in 1943 and attended Mount Allison University with the Canadian Army University Corp in Engineering 1943-44. He served with the Canadian Army from 1943-1946. He graduated from Dalhousie University in 1951 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery, practicing in Moncton from 1951-1990. He was past President and Director of the National Dental Examining Board for 16 years, Past President of the Moncton Dental Society, the NB Dental Society, the Moncton YMCA, the Moncton Beaver Curling Club and the Moncton Gyro Club. He was Director of the World Curling Championship in Moncton in 1980. He was a member of Keith Lodge #23 F. & A.M. and a past member of the Moncton Rotary Club, The Royal Canadian Legion, and The Moncton Elks Club. He was inducted into the Fellowship of the International College of Dentists in 1970 and into the American College of Dentists in 1991. He was a dental consultant to the Moncton TB Hospital 1952-1956, the Canadian Naval Base Coverdale 1951-54, and the Moncton Protestant Orphanage Home. He was the Resident Dentist to Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home from 1979-89. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Nobel DeWare and his sister Joyce Bird. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday September 13th at Fair Haven Funeral Home 1177 Salisbury Road. A service to celebrate Ralph's life will be held at the First United Baptist Church 157 Queen Street Moncton on Wednesday September 14th at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Dr. Richard Jackson officiating. A reception for Ralph's friends and family will follow the service in the church hall. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
