E. KATHRYN WATSON

WATSON, E. KATHRYN - On September 25, 2005 in her 98th year, passed away peacefully at her home in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born in Saint John New Brunswick, she was the youngest, and last surviving child of the late John and Mary (Holder) Paterson. She was predeceased by her husband George Bulyea Watson, three brothers and sisters; Robert H. Paterson, Saint John, William L. Paterson,Toronto, John Gordon Patterson, Myrtle Johnson, Helen Dunlop, and Freda Hedden. Surviving Kathryn is her son G. Barry (Dellores) Watson, Lawrencetown, and two daughters, Judith Binmore Watson, Saint John N.B., and M. Jane (John) Christie of Halifax. Kathryn is a grandmother to Duane (Tish) Watson, Halifax, Kathy (Jim) Legere, Dartmouth, Brian (Natasha) Watson, Halifax and Peter (Alison) Watson, Dartmouth. She is also grandmother to Ian Christie of Halifax who knew her as "Pillows". Kathryn is great grandmother to Christopher and Samantha Legere, Thomas, Samuel, and William Watson, and Madeline Paterson Watson. During her long lifetime, Kathryn was associated with many organizations including the Saint John Art Club, The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, The Canadian Watercolor Guild, and the Canadian Handicraft Association. Her work is registered with both the National Gallery of Canada and the Edmonton Art Gallery. She was also a past member of the Carelton Curling Club in Saint John, the Archibald McMachen Chapter of the IODE, Halifax, and Regent of the Seven Seas Chapter of the IODE, Saint John. On the occasion of Kathryn's 90th birthday, her lifelong love of art was celebrated with a retrospective of her work held at the former ABEC Center in Saint John N.B. Her love of art and indeed her many friends, was only exceeded by her love of family. She was a caring wife and mother, who loved us all without reservation and we loved her. Kathryn will be sadly missed. The family wish to express their thanks to Dr. M.R. (Mike) Banks and all the home care workers who were so devoted to Kathryn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at the J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Windsor St., Halifax, October 14, 2005 at 7 P.M.
