DOUGLAS NEIL WILKINS

WILKINS, DOUGLAS NEIL - The death of Mr. Doug Wilkins occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 24, 2007. Born in Saint John on September 20, 1959, he was the son of the late Raleigh and Alberta (MacEachern) Wilkins. Doug was a plumber by trade, pipe fitter, steamfitter, and RP tester, and operated James E. Lawton Plumbing and Heating Ltd. He was well known in the city and surrounding areas. Doug worked for James E. Lawton Plumbing and Heating for 22 years. When Jim Lawton retired in 1996. Doug was proud to take over Jim's business before moose season. Doug's favourite pastime - cruising down the highway with his Corvette with his favourite woman at his side. He enjoyed all their trips south, but the most important thing in his life were his three girls. He was a loving husband and father and will be deeply missed by his wife of 26 years, Colleen (MacLean) Wilkins, and daughters, Amy Wilkins (Josh Brown) and Tracy Wilkins (Keith Millership). Beside his wife and daughters, he is also survived by his brothers and sisters, David (Margo) Wilkins, Joan (John) Craft, Diane (Jim) Doucet, Valerie (Raymond) Pitre, Roberta (Junior) Vidito, Raleigh (Susie) Wilkins, Leonard (Joan) Wilkins, and Stephen (Judy) Wilkins; sisters-in-law, Judy (John) Webber and Linda (Jim) Snodgrass; brothers-in-law, Gary MacLean and Mike (Sally) MacLean; his mother-in-law, Mary MacLean; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and godson, Christopher Hobart. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Osborne MacLean. Also sadly missed by his employees; Josh Brown, Jim Snodgrass, Steve Wilkins, Craig Dunn and John Haynes. Resting at Castle "Fallsview " Funeral Home (634-1701), 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John. Funeral service will be held at River Valley Wesleyan Church, Grand Bay - Westfield on Friday. September 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Visiting at Castle "Fallsview" on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in memory of Doug may be made to First Step Housing, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
