MICHAEL DANIEL MURPHY
MURPHY, MICHAEL DANIEL - The death of Michael Daniel Murphy of Hampton, husband of Catherine (O'Connell) Murphy occurred unexpectedly February 3, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Rexton in 1950, son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Markey) Murphy. Mike lived Fredericton area from 1959 - 1972 and Saint John 1972 - 1976 before moving to Hampton. He worked at Medjucks Furniture 1965-1977, Co-op 1977-1999 and Re/Max 1999-Present where he received numerous awards. Mike was currently the Deputy Mayor of the Town of Hampton and served on various town committees over the past number of years. He was a director with Help the Cops Help the Kids Minor Sports Benefit and coached the Hampton RCMP team for several years. He also coached the Hampton Indians Oldtimers Hockey Team and was instrumental in forming the Hampton Moosehead Junior Oldtimers Hockey League. Charter member of the Rotary Club of Hampton. Mike enjoyed his early morning coffee at Kozy Korner Restaurant and Holly's. He was an avid card player and enjoyed snowmobiling. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Catherine; one daughter, Katie Murphy, Hampton; one son Tim Murphy (Maureen McNulty and Patrick), Hampton; one sister, Sharon Ward (Gordon), Bass River, NB; one brother, Raymond Murphy (Claire), Rexton, NB; brother-in-law, Michael O'Connell (Marilyn Oldscamp), Campbellton; several nieces and nephews. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation 3-4:30pm and 7-9pm Tuesday and 2-4pm and 7-9pm Wednesday. Vigil prayers will take place on Tuesday, 7:45pm, at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Alphonsus Church, Hampton, on Thursday at 10:00am. Interment in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the spring. Memorials to Braden Gendron Trust Fund or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
