VIRTUE
Lily Marie Virtue (nee Straub) of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away on February 7, 2009, at 96 years of age. Lily was predeceased by her husband, George Virtue, in 1999, father Phillip Straub in 1947, mother Caroline Straub in 1985, son-in-law Don Tregidgo, great-grandchildren Devon Tregidgo and Vanessa Whitby, brothers Edward and Charlie, sister Caroline Minto, sister Esther four days prior to Lily’s passing, as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Tregidgo, son Alvin, son Ron (Elizabeth) and daughter Ruth (Clifford) Lough, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sisters Clara Craig, Anne Trower, Vi Whetstone and sisters-in-law, Anne Kellough, Hilda Virtue, and Helen Virtue – Bristol, England. Lily was born on July 23, 1912, in Vernon, B.C. As a young child she moved with her family to Hodgeville. Then in 1928 the family moved to the Tuxford district. She married George Virtue on October 29, 1938, in Tuxford where they farmed and raised their family. On retirement they moved to Moose Jaw. When Lily lived at Golden Sunset Care Home and Oxford Place, she always called the management and staff her “angelsâ€, saying how lucky she was to have the best of care. She was known for her wittiness, generosity, and forgiving nature. A Celebration Tea will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St.E., on Thursday February 12, 2009 from 2 – 4 pm. At 2:30 pm the introduction of Lily’s family and a brief prayer will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
