
JOHN C. McNAIR
McNAIR, JOHN C., Q.C. - 1923 - 2010 - John C. McNair passed away peacefully on January 28, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by immediate family. He was born in Fredericton, N.B. on January 24, 1923, son of John Babbit McNair and Marion Crocket McNair. John graduated from University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Arts in 1944 and a Master of Arts in 1947. Having been awarded a Lord Beaverbrook Overseas Scholarship, he attended London School of Economics from 1947 to 1948. In 1951, he graduated from Dalhousie Law School with a LL.B. John practiced law in Fredericton for thirty-two years and was appointed to the Federal Court of Canada, Trial Division in Ottawa in 1983. He retired from the Federal Court in 1990 when he and Marion returned to their home in Fredericton. John was a member of the Saint Andrew's Society (Fredericton), Royal Canadian Legion (Fredericton Branch No. 4), Luxor Temple, Fredericton Shrine Club, and Hiram Lodge No. 6 F. & A.M.. He was also an avid enthusiast of the outdoors and devoted to his family. John was predeceased by his loving wife, Marion Morrison McNair, his sisters Marion (Billie) McCain and Nancy Moodie. He is survived by his three children, Jean (Bruce Chisholm), John (Sharon Lang) and Kathleen; his youngest sister, Janet Scarfe; five grandchildren, John, Jennifer, Olivia, Andrew & Adrienne; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton, on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 2:00 to 4 :00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 512 Charlotte St., Fredericton, NB.
