William Alexander (Bill) Mackay DARTMOUTH, NS - William Alexander (Bill) MacKay, 48, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully at home Saturday April 20, 2002 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton he was the son of Alex and Joan (Robertson) MacKay, Riverview. Although his career as a consultant in the industrial hydraulic power field saw him travel extensively throughout North America, Europe and South America, his heart remained at the cottage in Caribou River N.S. Bill was an avid sports fan who in his early years was active in football, curling and lacrosse. He recently developed a passion for formula one racing. Surviving are his wife Deborah (Cox); daughters Christine (Steve) Kemptville, Ontario, Jennifer (Dave) Dartmouth, Elizabeth at home; sister Wendy (Brion) Crossman; nephew Jamie; niece Laura, Quispamsis, N.B.; brother Brad (Hilary) Mt. Forest, Ontario; grandchildren Lucais and Emma. Cremation has taken place, visiting today 2-4, 7-9 pm. Funeral Tuesday 1 pm all in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home 217 Portland St. Dartmouth. Rev Gordon Murray officiating. Burial to follow in Sea View Cemetery, Pictou at a later date. The family would like to extend their heart felt thanks to the staff of the Med Day unit VG site and Palliative Care team who enabled us to keep Bill at home. Family flowers only, donations to the Palliative Care unit VG site would be appreciated.
