Brent Horan
1956 ~ 2009
Brent Taras Horan, beloved husband of Connie Horan, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at the age of 52 years. Brent was born on June 15, 1956, in Regina, SK, a son to proud parents, Teras and Vivian Horan. He married Connie Hand on July 8, 1977, in Kelvington, SK. Their marriage was blessed with the arrivals of three children, Jesse in 1981, Christy in 1983 and Lindsay in 1986. These young people meant the world to him and he was very proud of them and all their accomplishments. Brent was naturally mechanically inclined and this ability led him to his career as a Heavy Duty Technician. He was employed with the Co-op Service Centre in Kelvington where he became know as the “Lady Mechanic.” Evidently he was thorough in explaining what was wrong with the vehicles and made sure the lady clients were well informed in what he was going to do to fix them. Brent broadened his mechanical knowledge by attending the Kelsey Institute as he went through the apprenticeship of a Heavy Duty Mechanic with John Deere in Kelvington. He was involved in the Stock Car Club, was a member of the Volunteer Firefighters and enjoyed his motorcycle and ‘69 GTO. Brent was a quiet, lovable guy who was affectionately known as the “Big Teddy Bear.” He always put people at ease and was sought after for conversation and lending an ear. His family was of great importance and he was a pillar of strength for encouragement and support in all of their endeavours. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Connie; children, Jesse, Christy and Lindsay; two brothers, Jerry (Terry) Horan and Shawn (Janice) Horan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim (Deb) Hand, May (Robert) Anthony and Earl (Janice) Hand, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Teras and Vivian Horan and grandparents, Sigurd and Margaret Hanson. A Celebration of Brent’s Life was held at the Kelvington-Legion Community Hall, Kelvington, SK, on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. CST (1:00 p.m. MST) If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Brent’s name may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 - 3rd Ave N, Saskatoon SK S7K 2H8. Arrangements in care of Tompkins Funeral Home, Wadena, SK.
