Thomas Harper

Thomas Harper 1921 - 2005 Tom Harper, 83, passed away peacefully in Moncton on August 11, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Born October 1, 1921 in Scotland, Mr. Harper immigrated to Canada when he was three years old. For many years his family operated a farm in Black River, NB where he grew up. He is lovingly survived by his sons, Dennis Harper of Toronto, and David Harper (Cherie) of Calgary, AB; and his daughter, Maureen Boyne (John) of London, ON. Proud grandfather of Christine Dovey, Sara Boyne and Adam Harper. Tom is also survived by a sister, Betty Gulliver of Black River, NB; his wife, Jean Harper of Summerside,PE; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Christina (nee Carswell) Harper; four brothers; and one sister. Tom served with distinction in the RCAF from 1940 until 1972 and saw active service in WW II and Korea. His peace-time posting stretched from Alberta to France. After retiring with the rank of Master Warrant Officer, Tom accepted a position with the Land Assessment Branch, Province of Prince Edward Island and worked there until 1982. In retirement, Tom enjoyed cards, family outings and working around his cottage at Stanley Bridge, PE. A private family interment service is planned.
