Eleanor Wagner (nee: Gross) was welcomed home by her Lord on March 5, 2009, at the age of 84 years. Prayer Service was held Sunday, March 8, 2009, from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK, at 7:30 pm with Julie Randall officiating. The Funeral Mass took place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church with Father Sathiadas Antony officiating. The organist was Marlene Dolter and Sacred Heart Parish Choir. The Life Tribute was presented by Eleanor's son Delmer Wagner. The readers were her granddaughters, Genna Wagner, Britney Wagner and Marisha Wagner. Ushers were Reg Gross and Wayne Gross and the pallbearers were her grandsons Brett Wagner, Troy Jacobsen, Kaleb Wagner, Trent Wagner, Braden Wagner and nephew, Dale Gross. Eleanor was laid to rest in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roy; children; daughter Geraldine (Ralph) Jacobsen and their son Troy Jacobsen; son Garry (Esther) Wagner and their children Marisha and Kaleb; son, Delmer (Doreen) Wagner and their children Genna, Trent and Braden; son Ernie (Wendy) Wagner and their children Brett and Britney; her sister Ann (Alec) Patrick; brother, Leonard (Ilene) Gross; sisters-in-law, Isobelle Gross, Loraine Gross and Marj Gross. She was predeceased by her parents John and Ann Gross; four brothers, Johnny, Ed, Rudy and Ernie Gross. Eleanor was born in the Gooding District and attended the Easby School. She was united in marriage to Roy Wagner on February 6, 1946, at the Sacred Heart Rectory. The couple farmed in the Lancer district. Eleanor was an extremely talented homemaker and multitasker and participated in all the operations on the farm from cooking to bookkeeping to hauling grain and moving machinery during harvest. She was a life member and president of the Lancer CWL. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, gardening, dancing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, embroidery and the odd skit and play on special occasions. Eleanor was always ready and willing to help others in any situation. She especially loved her grandchildren and family gatherings. She was never too far away from the phone and used it to stay in close contact with her family. Eleanor also had a great sense of humour and enjoyed the occasional practical joke. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, 110-2550-12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
