John J. Duffy C.E.T. M.A.S.C.E. CHATHAM, NB - It is with profound sadness that the family of John (Jack) Duffy of Chatham announce his passing on Thursday, May 17th, 2007. Born in Chatham, NB., March 5, 1973. He was the son of Brian J. Duffy and Caroline (Smith) Duffy. Jack is survived by his loving parents and sister Karen. Jack suffered a massive heart attack while working for Philson's Construction of Fredericton at Camp Gagetown Military Base. He worked in Boston Ma, for many years on the Big Dig Project. He attended Saint Michael's Basilica in Chatham and St Andrew's Roman Catholic church in Loggieville, where he has a summer Home. He was an avid Hockey and Baseball player in his youth. He was a former life guard at the Chatham outdoor swimming pool. He loved to sail his boat on the mighty Miramichi. Jack made thirty nine (39) donations of whole blood to the Canadian Blood Services. He had a great love for his community, church and special needs children and adults. He held official membership in various engineering organizations both in Canada and the United States. He was a member in good standing with the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technologists, with the distinction of professional engineering technologist and technicians. He was a member of the American Society of certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, American Water Works Association, American Civil Engineer's Association, Transportation Association of Canada, Canadian Society of Civil Engineers, Canadian Society of Certified Professional-Engineering (Civil) Technicians and Technologists. John (Jack) Duffy is resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Miramichi, on Saturday, May 19th from 7 to 9 and on Sunday, May 20th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 21st at 11am from St Michael's Basilica with Fr John Fraser officiating. A reception will follow.
