
Lloyd W. Melanson
Lloyd W. Melanson 1938 - 2008 Lloyd W. Melanson of Dieppe died peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Monday, July 28, 2008 at the age of 69. Lloyd was formerly a member of the Moncton City Police Force, the Civic Relations Director for the City of Moncton, the Manager of the New Brunswick Hawks A.H.L. Hockey Team and the founder and operator of Lloyd's of Moncton Ltd until he retired in 1995. He then spent many winters as a "Snowbird" in St. Petersburg, Florida. Lloyd was brought up and lived most of his life in the West End of Moncton. He then resided 10 years in Grand-Barachois, after which he moved to Dieppe. Lloyd was always very involved in the communities as a former Probus Club member, a Shediac Club Rotarian, etc. He was a very hard worker and a devoted family man. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Josette (Gauvin) Melanson; his daughter, Dr Karen Melanson and son in law Claude Bourgeois of Dieppe. He was the proud grandfather of Samuel and Alexia. Lloyd also leaves behind his mother, Mable (LeMénager) Melanson of 92 who is still presently living at the Villa du Repos, Moncton. He was predeceased by his father Walter (1993) and by his beloved daughter Jo-Ann (1991). Lloyd will be deeply missed by all but always dearly remembered. The family will receive relatives and friends at Frenette Funeral Home Ltd, 88 Church St., Moncton (858-1900) on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2008 at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, 43 Botsford Street, Moncton. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation, 331 Elmwood Dr., Moncton, N.B.
