LEANDRE LAVOIE

LAVOIE, LEANDRE - The family of Leandre (Len) Lavoie sadly announce his death on July 19th, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Born in Rogersville on October 28, 1922, son of the late Damien (Dan) and Phillimene (Babineau) Lavoie. He worked at CN stores department, retiring with 38 years service. For many years he coached and trained many Little Leguers, boxers and softball (Rebels) and many hockey teams. He was a member of the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame, NB Softball Hall of Fame, and Moncton Wall of Fame. He was Scout Master for Stella Maris Parish in Sunny Brae. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Freda (Lewis); daughters Linda Monette of South Tetagouche, Louise of Moncton, Faye Allain (Raymond) of Caissie Cape, sons Larry (Vickie) of Brampton, Ontario, and Terry of Anagance. Grandchildren, Stuart, Marcia, Sara, Trisha, Amy, Michelle, Jonathan, Nicole, and Great Grandchildren Madison and Abygail, and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by sisters Zita, Jeannita of Moncton, Nora Mai Crevier (Raymond) of Rimouski, Quebec, and one brother Gerard (Violet) of Memramcook. He was predeceased by his sister Nora in 1934 and brother Honore (Hank) in Italy in 1943. His body has gone to Dalhousie University for research. Memorial Mass will be held at St Michael's Church, 150 Masters Road, Moncton, July 23, 2009 at 10:30am. Reception to follow. Those wishing to make donations in his memory may do so to the charity of their choice. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, extramural nurses, and staff of Dr. Georges Dumont and residence Du Marais for all their wonderful care.
