WILLIAM DAVIS

DAVIS, WILLIAM - 1930-2009 - William Lloyd Davis, 79, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, October 18, 2009. Born in Springhill, he was the son of the late William Davis and Elizabeth (Ryan) Davis. Bill joined the RCMP in 1951 taking his training in Vancouver and Regina. He served in Goose Bay, Battle Harbour Labrador, St. Johns and Prince Edward Island where he worked for some years undercover for the Liquor and Excise Act. He was I/C of many detachments Neguac, Richibucto, Sackville and in General Investigation, Fredericton also I/C of Bathurst when he retired after 22 years service. For the next 17 years he was employed by the U.I.C. as a fraud investigator. Bill enjoyed sports and music. He sang with the church choir for 16 years and other groups as well. He was also a member of the Anglican Men's Club. He is survived by his wife Doris (Webber) Davis; two daughters, Janice (Stuart) Ward Porters Lake N.S., Shawna (Scott) Downey Moncton; two sons, Alan, Bangkok, Thailand, Brian (Amber) Davis, Vancouver; also eight grandchildren, Rachel, Alexander, Hannah Ward, Lindsay, Adam, Neil Downey, Mason, Meryn Davis; one brother, Fred, Amherst; one sister, Roseanna, P.E.I. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Walter Davis. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Woolridge Street, Riverview at 2:00 pm. A reception to follow in the church hall.
