RONALD BUTTON

BUTTON, RONALD - (1926-2009) - Son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, papermaker, proud Newfoundlander, raconteur, union president, friend, town councilor, bridge whiz, and one of the funniest men on the north shore, Ron passed away peacefully November 21, surrounded by his loved ones. When the I.P. Mill opened in 1930, eleven families from Cornerbrook emmigrated to Dalhousie. Ron was the last surviving Newfoundland-born mill-worker still residing on the North Shore. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Doris Frenette, his sons Tracey (Angela Flieger) of Southampton ON, Marshall (Patricia Parent) of Moncton, daughter Ronna (Bob) Egan of Ottawa ON, and grandchildren Ashley, Tyler, Hanna, Jacob, Thea, Mac and Jocelyn. He was predeceased by his six siblings: Priscilla, Dorothy, Bill, Clark, Christina (Tiny), and Kathryn and so many others he "killed" with his great sense of humour. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Tuesday, November 24 at 1:00 pm at the United Church Hall, Brunswick Street, Dalhousie. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gladly accepted by your local Palliative Care Centre. Ron lived a great life.
