Kevin Patrick MacInnis
Passed on: January 26th, 2009
52, Port Hood Kevin Patrick MacInnis, 52, of Port Hood, passed away on Jan. 26, 2009, in Windsor, Ont., after a courageous battle with cancer. Kevin was cheerful to the end and died peacefully with family by his side. Born in Little Judique, he was a son of Sadie (MacIsaac) MacInnis, Port Hood, and the late Hugh MacInnis. Kevin was a member of the UA Local 682 Plumbers and Pipefitters of Sydney. He was employed as a welder and worked on construction sites across Canada. He was one of only a few Maritimers chosen to work on the natural gas line to Maine. He was held in high regard by his fellow workers and was an asset on every job where he was employed. Kevin always enjoyed getting back to Cape Breton and spending time outdoors and on his boat. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna (MacDougall), Redford, Mich.; much-loved sons, Ryan, Chase and Jamie; as well as their mom, Karen. He is also survived by his mother, Sadie MacInnis, Inverary Manor; sisters, Tootsie MacDonald, Margie MacInnis, Anne (Jack) MacDonald, Port Hood, Marie (Carmen) Campbell, Rosie (Sandy) MacNeil, Louise (Neil) MacNeil, Mabou, Ellen Macdonald (Kenny Gillis), Judique, Gena MacIntyre, Dartmouth; brother, Brian MacInnis (Arlene Duncan), Stoney Creek, Ont., and half-sister, Agnes (MacDonald) Burns, Halifax. Kevin was an uncle and a great-uncle to many nieces and nephews with whom he kept in touch, often through his "late night" phone calls. He will be missed by each and every one of them. The family would like to thank the staff of London Regional Cancer Centre, Windsor Regional Metropolitan Hospital and the Malden Park Continuing Care Centre. A very special thank you goes to Kevin's niece, Amanda MacDonald of Windsor for her unfailing care and support during his long and difficult illness. Visitation was held in St. Peter's parish hall, Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, and will be held today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, from St. Peter's Church, Port Hood, at 11 a.m. Fr. Victor Ozoufuanya officiating. Burial will take place in St. Peter's Parish Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Peter's Parish Cemetery Fund, Port Hood. Online condolences may be made to invernessfuneral@ns.aliantzinc.ca.
