John Gilbert Scott of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on March 8, 2010 at the age of 89 years. John was born May 19, 1920 on the family farm, where he lived most of his life. To John, farming was not only a livelihood, it was his passion, and he farmed until just recently when his health held him back. In 1951 John married the love of his life, Marjorie and in 1952 the twins, Wally and Wendy came along. John was the president of the Red Lake Phone Company for many years. He was a member of the South Sask. Wildlife Association, and during his retirement years he enjoyed carving ironwood and was talented enough to win prizes for his work. Rock hounding, travelling to various destinations, wintering in Arizona, square dancing, and most importantly, his family, especially his grandchildren brought him much laughter and joy. John is predeceased by his parents, his siblings, and an infant daughter Janet. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; children: Wally, Wendy (Phil) Croisetiere; grandchildren Gary Scott, James (Jennifer) Scott and their son Eli; Allison (Jeff) Bruce and their children Ceanna and Cassidy; Jennifer Scott; Michael (Caroline) Tiede and their children Cole, Morgan, and Landon; and Amy (Shawn) Eby; sister-in-law Alice Anthony; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Monday March 15, 2010 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Doug Hallman will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. For those so wishing, memorials to the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, would be appreciated. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
“Dear Wally, Wendy & Families: Sadens me to learn of your Dad's passing. I appreciate he hasn't been himself or "up to par" for some time...the last time I introduced myself, he clung to my hand! "Losing a Dad just ain't no fun!" I will try to make it to Moose Jaw for the funeral--regardless, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless, Caroline (nee Kettleson)”
