NEW GLASGOW – Ada Evelyn (MacIntosh) Mahar, 74, MacLellan’s Brook, passed away suddenly at home in MacLellan’s Brook, on Tuesday, March 30, 2010.
She was the daughter of the late George Glendenning MacIntosh, New Glasgow, and Margaret Viola (Fraser) MacIntosh of Thorburn.
She was an adherent of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton.
She is survived by her husband, John William Mahar, MacLellan’s Brook; sons, Alex (Rachel), MacLellan’s Brook; William “Billy†(Teresa), Priestville; daughters: Carolanne Meyer (Bill), Bridgeville; Frances Stewart (Raymond), MacLellan’s Brook; Cathy Veenhuis (Marty), Union Centre; grandchildren: Diane Foote (Kenneth), Pine Tree; Jason Mahar (Bobbijo), MacPherson’s Mills; Greg Mahar (Bobbijo), Little Harbour; Wade Mahar (Ashley MacLeod), MacLellan’s Brook; Sonya Mahar (Blair MacDonald, Stellarton; Virginia Ross (Mark), Riverton; Michelle Smith (Craig), Priestville; Gary Mahar (Lindsay Williams), Stellarton; Lena Stewart-Hawke (Wayne), Bedford; Travis Stewart (Bridget), Stellarton; Justin Stewart, MacLellan’s Brook; Michael Meyer (Sarah Grant), Bridgeville; Robert Meyer (Amy), Bridgeville; Julie Meyer, Bridgeville; Kevin Meyer (Robyn Carmichael), Bridgeville, Chelsea Meyer (Matt Marr), Bridgeville; Julie Meyer, Bridgeville; Ryan Veenhuis (Michelle Fulmore), New Glasgow; Eileen Veenhuis (Dustin Swinkles), Afton; Maria Veenhuis (Jared Archibald), Union Centre; Sarah Veenhuis (Mark MacLennan), Union Centre; and 16 great-grandchildren; and special companion, Zoe.
Ada took great pride in her family and looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and friends. She was known for her contagious laugh and telling stories. She loved flowers, travel, and “especially†shopping.
Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, with Rev Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellan’s Brook.
