ANDERSON, Orville Garfield. Dad was born November 6, 1934, in Swift Current, SK, an only child to J. Gordon and Cora (Rollins) Anderson. He was raised on the family farm and attended school at the Fairhill District School. In 196,2 his parents retired to Success after he married Beverley Buddin of Vanguard, SK. Together they raised their 3 children, Glenda, Mark and Oran, on the family farm, raising cattle and horses for the first few years then sheep and goats. Dad rode for SC PFRA Community Pasture for 15 years during this time he also was Brand Inspection at the Pool. Dad was a Councillor for 17 years for the RM of Sask Landing and on the Hospital Board most of that time as well. He was the back catcher and coach for the Success Ball Team and also enjoyed curling. He was a member of the Pennant Lions Club, Leader of the Pennant 4H Light Horse Club and one of the founders of the Sask Landing Roping Club where he helped organize and run the rodeos at the River. He joined the Frontier Days Committee and worked at the Frontier Days Rodeo until 2007. He was an active member of the South Central Roping Club where he flagged all the time. In the early years he enjoyed leather work, roping, attending brandings and being the country vet. As Dad approached retirement his ailing health caused them to move to Swift Current much to his dismay. He did enjoy his time at coffee row at the Husky and Thursday night suppers with the Potter's and in-laws from Vanguard were a highlight where he enjoyed his favourite meal, "cutlets". He loved spending time with his grandchildren and a highlight was the arrival of his 2nd grandson 3 1/2 years ago. Orville was predeceased by his parents J. Gordon and Cora and father-in-law Embert Buddin. He is survived by his wife Beverley; children Glenda (George) Giesbrecht, Mark (Thecla), Joel (Magda), Janina and Raelene, Oran (Stacey), Blayne, Rylie, Chetten; mother-in-law Allie Buddin; sisters-in-law Madelyn (Jim) Finlay, Gail (Frank) Dykema; and numerous nieces and nephews. The celebration of life service was held on Monday, March 30, 2009, at 2:00 PM from the Success Community Hall with Marvin Auseth officiating. Larry and Beverley Caswell shared special music and Stacey Anderson read the eulogy. Ushers for the service were Hugh Williams and Harvey Horn.
