It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of husband, father, and grandfather, Harvey Cameron, 64 of Glace Bay, on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
Born in Glace Bay to the late Roy and Harriet (Simmons) Cameron. Harvey was well known for his work as the funeral director for Patten Funeral Home in Glace Bay. His passion and dedication for his work was unsurpassed. Harvey’s need for perfection in the funeral services for the past 42 years earned him great respect from his colleagues and everyone who knew him. His commitment will be greatly missed.
Harvey was an active member of the Sergeant’s Mess, Glace Bay for over 35 years.
He was an adherent of Epworth United Church and also had a fellowship with all clergy in the surrounding area.
Harvey’s pride for his family was another passion in his life. He leaves behind his loving wife, Martha (Hillier); children, Karen (Brian) Budden and Harvey (Carol) Cameron; also grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Amy and Abby. Harvey is also survived by brother, Glen (Nancy) Cameron; sister, Lynn (Marty) Russell; many brother and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and great friends.
Harvey was predeceased by parents, Roy and Harriet (Simmons) Cameron; sisters, Alice (MacIntyre) and Deanna (Mortimer) and brother, Harvey Glen.
Visitation will take place at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520 on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Brookside St., Glace Bay on Monday April 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating and assisted by Rev. Eric Lynk. Interment to take place at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only please. Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
