It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kathleen Abbott announce her passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the age of 83 years. She will be sadly missed by her son, Paul (Maureen) Abbott of Port au Port West; three daughters: Deborah (Harold) Keough of Corner Brook, Jacquelyn (Gordon) Burfitt of Calgary, Alberta, Noreen Dwyer of Port au Port West; eight grandchildren: Maureen and Michael Keough, Kelly (Jon) Krashinsky, Janine Abbott, Allan, Erin and Colleen Dwyer, Heather (Marc) Coté; two great-grandchildren: Emma and Alex; sisters-in-law: Flora Joy of St. John's, Maureen Moore of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sandra Abbott of Stephenville and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Fintan Abbott, three brothers: Dr. Clifton Joy, Gus Joy, James Joy; three sisters: Dorothy Madison, Mildred O'Donnell, Geraldine Southcott and her dearly beloved son-in-law Robert Dwyer. Friends may call at Our lady of Mercy Church, Port au Port West on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Friday, September 12th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Port au Port West with cremation to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations to Our Lady of Mercy Church Restoration Fund would be greatly appreciated.
