Hatherly, Donald (Don) Henderson Q.C. of Granville Centre, formerly of Bridgetown, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at Annapolis Community Health Centre in Annapolis Royal on April 23, 2009 from complications following surgery. Don a son of the late James Gordon Hatherly and Jean Aileen (Henderson) was born Jan. 29th, 1930 in Medford, Mass. Don grew in Truro attending Willow Street School and Colchester County Academy. Don graduated with a B.A. from Mount Allison University and a law degree from Dalhousie University. Don's legal practice involved both Crown Prosecutor and private practice in Bridgetown where Don and his wife. Fran worked together serving the legal needs of the community. Don also served on the Bridgetown Town Council. Among Don's many interests were curling, bowling, playing bridge with his neighbors and his passion for history. More recently he enjoyed retirement, rose gardening, walking through the historic gardens, listening to classical music, dining at Newman's Restaurant and watching the backyard antics of the wildlife there, and caring for Fran. Don was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Frances (Sharp) Hatherly, his sister Jeanne Craig Graham, and recently by his niece Pamela Jean Langille. Don is survived by his sister Norma Langille, Halifax and brother Richard (Evelyn) Hatherly, Barrie, Ont. and numerous nieces and nephews and their children, and many cousins. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Don's life will be held on Monday April 27, 20009 at 2 p.m. Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, 385 Granville Street, Bridgetown, N.S., Rev Keith Churchill officiating. The family thanks Dr. Barkwell, the nurses and staff in the Palliative Care Unit for their loving care of both Frances and Don as they completed the circle of their lives.
