It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of John Robert 'Bobby' Vaninetti of River Ryan, on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at home.
Born in New Waterford, he is the son of Joe and Corinne (McCormick) Vaninetti, River Ryan.
Bobby obtained his certification in automotive mechanics in the mid-80s and soon after, moved to California to seek employment. While there, he eventually opened his own automotive shop in Santa Ana where he worked for the next 14 years before returning home. He loved cars and was known to be very meticulous with those he worked on, including his own. He also had a keen interest in videography and enjoyed to barbecue with family and friends.
His main love, however, were his nieces and nephews who referred to him as 'Uncle Bob.'
Surviving are brothers, Nœl (Lynn), New Waterford, Jœy, California; sister, Angela (Derrick) Dupe, New Waterford; six nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Kara and Tyler Vaninetti, Marisa and Makayla Vaninetti, Jorden and Paige Dupe; special aunt, Berniece McCormick, Bridgeport.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Bobby will take place Friday, April 16 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow. A luncheon will be held in the Carmel Centre, New Waterford, immediately after the funeral mass.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of one's choice.
