Ronald Allan Hart
March 21, 1946 - April 13, 2010
Ron passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, in Regina, SK, after a long illness surrounded by his closest family. He was predeceased by his mother Mabel in 2001 and his father Ernest John (Ernie) in 1996. Ron is survived by his wife of 40 years Suzanne; his son, Lee Hart (Joyce); his daughter Shannon Rutledge (Robb); five grandchildren Riley & Madison Hart and Alex, Karsyn & Colbie Rutledge; brother Reginald Hart (Gloria); three sisters Rae Hart, Geraldine Ruse (Doug) and Patricia Hart; nieces & nephews Andrea, Reggie, Raymond and Jessie; Jackie; Kim and Kelly; Gerry, Rejean and Brian. Ron was born in Regina where he attended Balfour Collegiate and finished high school in 1965 at St. Josephs in Yorkton SK. Ron graduated from the University of Regina with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Work and Masters of Social Work degrees. Ron was a lifetime Civil Servant with the Social Service Department, Province of Saskatchewan. He started his lengthy career as a Social Worker in 1969, working in Yorkton, Prince Albert, Regina and most recently Moose Jaw. Ron retired in 2003, as the Director of Community Programs and Regional Ops with Community Living Division. Ron loved to travel. His pride and joy was his all original 1972 Volkswagen van (The Hornet) and more recently his "Moho", and when not on the road could be found most nights out front of his home in Lumsden, retelling the stories of his trips with Suzanne, his kids, and friends, to all who came to visit. He was always up for a trip and travelled many miles with his grandson Riley and many nephews. Ron loved the community of Lumsden; it had been home since 1976. Ron spent endless hours at the Lumsden Skating Rink scheduling ice times for hockey teams from Lumsden and surrounding areas. Ron served as a Lumsden Town Counselor from October 2003 until his election as the Mayor of Lumsden in October 2009. Ron was a compassionate, caring and forgiving man, he believed each person he met could teach him something new and for that reason he valued everyone's viewpoint. He was loved by many but respected by all who knew him. Ron will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who came to know him. A Come and Go celebration of his life will be held on WEDNESDAY, APRIL, 21, 2010 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Centennial Hall, 3rd Avenue, Lumsden, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or the Regina Humane Society. Ron's family would to thank the staff of Unit 2-5 and the Physiotherapy Unit of the Wascana Long Term Care Facility, Unit 3-E of the Regina General and the Intensive Care Units of the Regina General and Pasqua Hospitals. We truly appreciate the compassion, effort, hard work and respect that you gave Ron over the last few years. Thank you to everyone for the kindness, flowers, food, phone calls, visits and prayers during our time of great sorrow. Ron will be cremated and his ashes interred at a later date.
