POWELL, LAURIE ANN (MABEE) - Died suddenly, April 2, 2010 at her home in Cincinati, Ohio. Laurie was born in Woodstock, NB on March 14, 1967. She attended schools in Woodstock, NB, Vancouver, BC, Wendoree, Australia, and graduated from Presque Isle, Maine High School. Laurie joined the US Coast Guard after graduation. She lived in Texas, Alabama and then Ohio. Laurie had earned a black belt in Karate during her teen years. In 2008 Laurie received an award for heroism after she saved a young boy from drowning. Laurie was very happy in her work as a dental assistant in Cincinnati. Laurie was predeceased by her mother Barbara P. (Foran) Mabee in 1996. She is survived by her husband Thomas Powell, Cincinnati; her son Maxwell C. McCarter, Birmingham, Alabama; her father and step mom, William and Roberta Mabee, Fredericton, NB; sister Cathy L. (Mabee) Burton, Lower Sackville, NS; brother, Stephen D. Mabee, Saint John; and grandmother Kathleen Mabee of Saint John. She is also survived by three nephews, a niece, and a great nephew. She will be missed by her family and many friends in Canada and the United States.
Funeral services were held in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 8, 2010.
