Weatherby, Margaret Laura -93, Truro
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Margaret Laura Weatherby who died May 18, 2010 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro with her son, Gordon and daughter-in-law, Joan at her side. Born in Truro, July 4, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Hollis and Grace (Wynn) Rutherford. Margie was a well known Truro business woman who along with her husband Hartley, son Gordon and his wife, Joan owned and operated Hartley C. Weatherby Hardware on Prince Street for sixty-nine years. She had faithfully attended the First Baptist Church for the last five years. Margie had a passion for golf, bowling, playing bridge and solving word puzzles. She is survived by her son, Gordon (Joan), Truro; grandchildren, Sharon (Gerry) Lemmon, Dean, Stephen (Zoe) Weatherby, Truro; great-granddaughter, Hailey Lemmon, her pride and joy; step-great grandchildren, Michelle (Rob) Staples, Jamie (Laura) Staples; step - great, great grandchildren, Gabriel and Reagan; sister, Eva Weatherby, Halifax; brothers, Aubrey Rutherford and Chester Rutherford, both of Truro; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Hartley Weatherby; brothers, Archie, Stewart, Douglas and Charles. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22nd from 7-9 pm with a memorial service on Sunday, May 23rd at 2:00 pm both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. David MacNaughton officiating. Interment in Watson Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Margie's memory may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation.
