NEW GLASGOW - Leo O'Brien age 65. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and papa.
Leo was the son of the late James and Mary Lillian (Robichaud) O'Brien of Westville.
Leo worked out west in Alberta and B.C. for Alcan Aluminium Co. before retiring and returning to his beloved Nova Scotia in 2002.
He was an ardent bowler and dart player for which he won many trophies in his lifetime. He loved to go to Timmy's in Westville with the gang and have his coffee (thanks everyone). Every chance he got he loved to play his guitar and sing especially with his nephews.
Leo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Katherine (Kay) (Munroe); sons: Gary (Joann) of Halifax; Leo Jr. (Jennifer) of Prince George, B.C.; Peter (Janet) of Calgary; grandchildren: Justin, Dylan, Jordan, Joshua, Amanda, Caitlyn, Makenzie, Kaela, Brittany and Brandi; great-granddaughter, Reigen; brothers: Wilfred (Judy) of Saskatchewan; Clarence (Carol) of Alberta; Billy (Aggie) of Pictou; sisters: Dot of Alberta; Rita of Brooklyn, N.S.; Marie of Ontario; Marie Theresa (Francis) of Cape Breton; brother-in-law, John Munroe (Sheila) of Saltsprings; sister-in-law, Edith Owen (Albert) of Plymouth; numerous nieces and nephews
Leo was predeceased by a brother, James; sisters, Hazel and Kathleen; father and mother-in-law, Sanford and Bessie Munroe; brothers-in-law: Jim and Mark Munroe, Lee Simpson, Bruce Ramsay, sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Gordon McKeigan and nephew, Rick Majcan.
Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery.
No flowers by request of the deceased, donations in memory of Leo may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
