Bruce Vincent Smith age 73, of Fenwick, N.S. passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan with his family by his side. Born in Nappan, he was a son of the late Vincent and Georgia (Brown) Smith. Bruce worked at the family business Smith Esso Service Station in Fort Lawrence, Municipality of Cumberland County and Robb Engineering where he worked on the construction of the IWK Hospital in Halifax. He was a member of the RCAF Wing 105, Amherst, Westcumb Amateur Radio Club and Echo Charlie Club 212 and for many years he was active with Boy Scout Alert Jamboree. Bruce enjoyed playing darts, horseshoes, snowmobiling and ATV's and also tinkering and inventing. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Gayle Mill, two daughters Debra
(Paul) Ripley of Upper Nappan and April (Joe) Dale of Moncton, N.B., five granddaughters Tammy and Paula Ripley and Kristy, Katie and Kayla Dale, one brother Lloyd (Marge) Smith of Amherst and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by a son Steven and a brother Fred. Cremation has taken place. His family will receive visitors at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Bob Mack officiating. Interment will take place in the Fenwick Cemetery.
