It is with sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Sinclair, 76, of Gunn Street, Sydney, formerly of New Waterford, at home on July 15, 2010.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Hardy and Priscilla Sinclair. Raymond was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 128, in Sydney. He worked in the coal mines of New Waterford for several years. In earlier years, Raymond was an avid ball player who pitched for the Scotchtown Raiders.
Surviving are daughters, Geneva Passmore (Bill), Dartmouth, Leanne (Robbie) Campbell, New Waterford; sons, Brian Sinclair, Rhett Detheridge, both of Sydney, Gordie Sinclair (Lori), Urban Baldwin, both of New Waterford, Raymond 'Yogi' Sinclair (Sherry), Ontario; brother, Nicky (Anna) Sinclair, Glace Bay; sisters, Vera Nichols, Sydney, Missy Miller, New Waterford; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by brothers, Daniel, Charles and Miles; sisters, Margaret and Thelma.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Raymond will be held Tuesday, July 20 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes cemetery.
