
Alice Jeanne (nee Hodder) Hoyt

It is with profound sadness that we announce Alice's passing.
She was predeceased by her parents, Blanche Garland and The Rev. Hayward Hodder, her stepmother, Valda (Vooght) Hodder, many close family members, friends and her beloved canine companions, Sally and Jessie.
Alice leaves behind a sister, Shirley DeBow (Gerry); and brother, Arthur Hodder (Sharon); her daughters, Allison Hannah, Tracey Hoyt Marshall (Rob), Angela Hoyt-Fitzhugh (Kent); and her son, Gary Hoyt (Stephanie); 10 grandchildren whom she adored, Maddy, Amy, David, Cameron, Reid, Gillian, Abby, Ellen, Griffen and Lola; her nephew, nieces, great nieces and nephew; and her dear friend and Boggle partner, Uli Guran.
The family would like to thank Alice's many friends who have supported her over the years, the medical teams at McMaster and St. Joseph's hospitals in Hamilton and her visiting nurse, Sharon.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation at The Royal Botanical Gardens, 680 Plains Rd. W. Burlington, Ont., Auditorium B (www.rbg.ca) on Wednesday, Aug. 4 between 2-3:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of Alice's life at 4 p.m. At her request, Alice will return home to Cape Breton in the Fall to rest with her parents, where a graveside service will take place.
