It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shauna Marie Ryan of Ottawa, Ont. on May 31, 2009.
Born in New Waterford to Judy (Ryan) MacPhee, raised by her grandmother, Alice Ryan and grandfather, the late John Hugh Ryan, whom she always called ‘Ma’ and ‘Da’.
Shauna graduated from BEC high school and then set out for the big city of Ottawa where she was employed by the city as a by-laws officer for the last 25 years. Shauna made many good friends at her job, like Lori, Zandra, and Linda, whom she thought the world of.
Shauna was always athletic during her school years and continued to play soccer and softball most of her life. She was very compassionate, kind and loving to her family and all she met. Shauna would always strive to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Wildmen; sons, Landon and Aaron, Ottawa; mother-in-law, Eleanor, Ottawa. Also surviving are her stepdad, Ray MacPhee, husband to Judy, Dominion; brothers, Raymond (Lenora), Dartmouth, Bradley (Diane), Fort St. John, B.C.; sisters, Cheryle (Bill) Hussey, Sydney, Ashley (Mark) MacPhee Leudy, Sydney, Hughena (Jim) MacPherson, New Waterford, Mary Ryan, Sydney, Debbie Ryan, Portage, Joy Ryan (her best buddy), New Waterford; brothers, Jim Ryan, Inverness, John ‘Buttons’ Ryan, New Waterford, Hughie Ryan, Red Deer, Alta.
She also leaves to mourn her two best friends growing up, Lisa and Kim; the years and the miles never separated their friendship.
She leaves behind many nephews and nieces she loved dearly.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Shauna will take place Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Agnes Church with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will be held at St. Agnes Centre, Convent Street, New Waterford immediately following the funeral mass.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or the Cape Breton S.P.C.A.
