Passed in: Canada
SADDEN - Nadine (nee: Houssian) of Ponteix, SK, formerly of the Cadillac and Ceylon areas passed away suddenly on August 5, 2010, while vacationing in BC. Nadine was born on July 5, 1935, to Faris and Najeebe Houssian. She was raised and schooled in Ceylon with her three brothers and six sisters. Nadine's family operated the General Store and Hotel in Ceylon and, like each of her siblings, Nadine learned early the value of both working hard and working together. As a young girl, Nadine enjoyed participating in various sports. In 1955, Nadine met her one true love, Kal Sadden. They married on April 22, 1957, and made their home on Kal's family's farm near Cadillac. Nadine and Kal were blessed with three boys: Faris, David and Joey. As a busy farm wife and mother, Nadine spent her time looking after her family and feeding her boys who, it seemed, could eat endlessly! She had an adventurous spirit and was always up for something fun: running with her own boys' activities when they were kids, travelling to various parts of North America, Europe and the Middle East (where she even rode a camel!) with her siblings, and attending as many of her grandchildren's school, sporting and music activities as she could manage. Nadine was a very sociable lady who enjoyed visiting anyone, young or old. She appreciated the simple things in life: a hot cup of coffee, a game of cribbage, early morning walks with friends, reading to her grandkids and watching many hours of curling on t.v. Spending time with family and friends, near or far, was something she considered to be time well spent. Nadine is survived by: children: Faris (Sandra) of Swift Current, David (Leesa) of Edmonton, and Joey (Jo-Ann) of the Cadillac area; nine extra-special treasures, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Carrie (Colin Grohs), Tyler and Amber Sadden, all of Swift Current; Jim and Jonas Sadden of the Cadillac area; John and Samara Sadden of Edmonton; Arika Sadden and Aden Grohs of Swift Current; her siblings: Edward (Laila) Houssian of Grande Prairie, AB; Helen Khan of Rome, Italy; Minera Houssian of Vancouver, BC; Mary (Lee) Strzelecki of Vancouver, BC; Gwen Hendrickson of Anchorage, Alaska; Kathreen (Ray) Simon of Toledo, OH; Alec Houssian of Grande Prairie, AB. Nadine also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She made friends wherever she went and was particularly close to best friends Faye Hattum and Tova Lamotte. Nadine was pre-deceased by her father (1939), an infant son, Alec Sadden (1960); her brother, Frank Houssian (1965); her father-in-law, Mohammed Sadden (1971);
her niece, Nancy Hendrickson (1978); her brother-in-law, Bert Kuitems (1985); her brother-in-law, Joe (1994); her mother-in-law, Najla Sadden (1995); her Mother (2001); her husband of 45 years, Kal Sadden (2003); her brother-in-law, Obida Sadden (2004); her sister, Donna Ahuja (2006), her brother-in-law, Raj Ahuja (2006 ); her brother-in-law, Omar Sadden (2010). A funeral service was held on August 10, 2010, from the Swift Current I-Plex auditorium, with Steve Sheronick officiating. A tribute was read by Joey Sadden. Pallbearers were sons: Faris, David and Joey, and grandsons: Tyler, Jim and Jonas. Interment took place at the Hillcrest Cemetery. For those wishing to honour Nadine's memory the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Saskatchewan Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
