LEGAULT - Leo Legault of Ponteix, SK passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Leo was born April 6, 1936 to Rene and Lumina Legault, brother to Lucille, Rolande and Emile Legault. Leo's love for his wife Jeanne was unmatched. Married on October 8, 1956, Leo and Jeanne celebrated 50 years of marriage before she passed away in 2007. Leo's devotion to his wife and his love for her was unending. They loved to dance together, whether it was on a date night, at community social, at their anniversary celebration or in the living room. Leo was also a cousin, uncle and dear friend. He was a dedicated father to his children: Luc, Doris, Suzette, Michelle and Kim. He had tenderness for his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Luc, Ramona, Maria, Andre, Dominique, Danielle, Gabrielle, France, Nicholas, Mathew, Shannon, Nathan, Chloe, Connor, Nikki and Xavier. Leo was a farmer and bison rancher. He was a visionary, progressive in his outlook on farm life. His foremost concern was for his family and the farm that was in his care. He continually looked for ways to diversify and ensure that the legacy that he inherited would continue. He truly was "the salt of the earth", a humble man with a strong work ethic. Leo was committed to his community and was involved in various organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and the Lions. He was also instrumental in starting many projects including the Centre Culturel Royer, the Notukeu Grain Growers and so many more. Leo was devoted to his faith and the Catholic Church. He sang regularly with the parish choir and rarely missed the chance to sing at Christmas Eve Mass. Leo had a generous spirit. He had a willingness to open his home and his heart to Raymond Lallier, his community and to countless kids who enjoyed barbecues at the Lake and endless hours of water-skiing and fishing. Leo will be remembered for his teasing ways, his integrity, his smile, his ability to whistle beautifully, his hearty laugh, his jokes and his love and dedication to his family. Leo will be sadly missed by his family, friends and community. The funeral service was held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church in Ponteix, SK with Father Raymond Carignan officiating. For those wishing to honor Leo's memory, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Our Lady of the Fields, Box 365 Ponteix, SK S0N 1Z0.
