Viola Diamond was also commonly known as " Minnie Dino."
At the Diamond house on “the corner,†the door never stopped swinging with a steady stream of visitors. The young, the old and everyone in between, these were Minnie Dino’s friends. Conversation and confidences flowed freely with Viola usually running the show. She never sought the limelight but she lived a public life. Among her many accomplishments she was proudest to be known as the founder and first chief of the Glovertown Fire Department in 1963. She was a well known Commissioner of Oaths and Issuer of Marriage Licences. She loved Traytown and Glovertown and over the decades kept poetic journals of the events and perceptions that moved her to write. She was fiercely independent and drove her own car into her 90’s. Despite the number of years she lived Minnie Dino was not old. The twinkle in her eye and the laughter in her voice remained to the end.
