Gerald Thomas Petrie, 69, of Halifax formerly of Dominion, Cape Breton, passed away Oct. 1, 2010, at the Halifax Infirmary QEII.
Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late John Harold and Evelyn Sarah (McNeil) Petrie.
Gerry was a member of the Royal Canadian Engineers, he worked with the Corp of Commissionaire and later with the Department of National Defence as a controls technician.
Gerry loved his hockey and was a member of the Calais Branch Royal Canadian Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Barry); stepdaughters, Shelly and Lara Fletcher, stepson, Daniel Fletcher; grandchildren, Brandi, David and Brandon, great-grandchildren, Justin and Isabella; sisters, Lorraine Allen, Dartmouth, Julia (Ian) Hickey, Sydney; brothers, Everett (Betty), Dartmouth, Harold, Glace Bay, Doug (Eileen), New Waterford, Jim (Cheryl), Lower Sackville.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 12-2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Reception to follow. Burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
